Communication & Multimedia Design (CMD)

Within the Communication & Media Design (CMD) you can, as of the first year of studies, choose between two specialisations: Interaction Design and Game Design. The Communication & Media Design program is offered at our C-mine campus in Genk.

Please note that Dutch is the official language of instruction. Consequently our programme is completely organized in Dutch.

Interaction design

Interaction design

If you choose Interaction Design, you are opting for a cross disciplinary mediamix. You are interested in innovative methods of social interaction and want to invent and design your own creative concepts for digital media. You (re)invent concepts that combine different media and disciplines: image (photography, film and graphic design), sound, text, paper, TV, web, mobile phones or tablets. This process can lead to a variety of products in which the user experience is central. Interactive films and installations, websites, mobile applications and interfaces: Being an interaction designer you feel comfortable in different disciplines. Your work is innovative and you are critical towards today’s designs.

Game design

Game design

If you choose Game Art & Design, you are opting for innovative game concepts. You combine the latest technologies and graphic applications to invent and design games. Upon completion of the course you will master a broad range of skills: concept art, 2D and 3D design, scenario and interaction design techniques. Furthermore, you can gain more in-depth knowledge of new interactive technologies, experimental art games, game engines & consoles, mobile games, pervasive games, marketing games, games which promote creativity, etcetera. Being a game designer, you can find your way in our fast moving society. You will be able to translate technological innovations in games that are suitable for different contexts and situations.
