Common Grounds '22

Projecten

L’Onion fait la force

Performance: It is essentially about trying to connect in times of disconnection, loneliness and alienation. The story is set at a place with six individuals trying to get to connect. As the night goes on the dynamic changes, the performers connect and disconnect.

  • Participants: Gio Megrelishvili, Lupe Arens, Shile Feng, Zée Labarque, Jari Asselman, Arnaud Casier

The Hairpiece

Performance: I would brush my hair 100 times every night before going to sleep. My mother had told me this was the best way to keep it smooth, straight, good looking, … And the thing I wanted the most in the world was to be smooth, straight, good looking, … So I brushed and counted to 100, like a prayer.

  • Participants: Linde Stevens, Joana Estrela, Arwen Michiels, Elina Pupina

Walk

Performative installation: Each person is going somewhere. Multiple bodies living the same experience, a feedback loop reflected back to us. What is the purpose of this moment of transition? Who are we when we are not at A or B, but somewhere in between? A moment of interference in our experience of the mundane. With Walk, we invite the audience to participate in a whimsical version of the everyday world.
This installation doubles as the performance space for the piece Clown by Elisabeth Willems and Mirjam Vesters.

  • Participants: Warre Kempeneers, Lena Detremmerie, Max Ferguson

Clown

Performance: Clown is a live performance of someone lost in his own world of thoughts. The character is confronted with himself in his or her thought world. In dreams you never see your own face. With this installation too, the face will never actually be seen, but you will see a reflection of how the character feels - a clown in this society.
Clown is presented within the context of the installation piece Walk by Lena Detremmerie, Max Ferguson and Warre Kempeneers.

  • Participants: Elisabeth Willems, Mirjam Vesters

Traces

Performative installation: A trace; a mark, object, or other indication of the existence or passing of life; a performance. But when all traces fade into blackness, only the trace of a performance remains recognizable. Traces questions our (disappearing) legacy on earth. How to leave a lasting mark?

  • Participants: Zoë De Sutter, Louise Jacobs, Wolf Mertens, Simon Nelissen

You Lose

Performative installation: Love all things weird and fun? What happens when you are faced with a rather unique game - one with no rules. Will you let the pressure of this nonsensical world get to you or fight until the last tick? In this bizarre, visually immersive experience, we take you on an individual journey accompanied by our own performers. Come, put your game face on and join us! We look forward to beating you.

  • Participants: Iza Rizwan, Nathan Verbelen, Maarten Vandevelde

Happy family

Performative installation: Four colourless people aspire to bring colour into their life.

  • Participants: Ines Germeau, Bjarne Jacobs, Mirjam Vesters, Michell Heyndrickx, Bruce Forton

Untitled 01

Installation: An audiovisual installation about the digital extension of a physical space.

  • Participants: Yousef Hanon, Iryna Bezkrovna, Chego (Goeun Choi), Mariken Vanheusden

The Eternal Door

Installation: A historical fiction about the door, about American Cold War Propaganda and a door in a post apocalyptic future repeating in a loop.

  • Participants: Mose Kaz, Luísa Saldanha, Juliette Haelman, Nathan Verbele, Gunbike
