Over Kaat Michielsen 

Kaat Michielsen is studente schilderkunst aan Luca School of Arts in Gent en heeft juist haar derde Bachelor afgerond. De materialen die ze gebruikt bestaan voornamelijk uit: acrylverf, vinylverf en acryl verfstift. Ook werkt ze soms met andere materialen zoals textiel of klei. Haar doel is om mensen te prikkelen met interessante patronen en vormen die steeds terugkomen. Daarmee probeert ze een eigen wereld te creëren.

Over Ine Van Den Berge:

Ine Van Den Berge (1996) behaalde dit jaar een Master in de beeldende kunsten op LUCA school of Arts in Gent. Ze begon in schilderkunst, maar ontdekte doorheen de jaren dat het creëren van ruimtelijk werk haar meer lag. Ze maakt steeds banale objecten waar voor haar een herinnering of een emotionele waarde aan verbonden zit. Het kan daarbij gaan om een anekdote, een herinnering aan een overleden familielid of een ruzie. Ook beschikt elk object over een duidelijke functionaliteit, maar door de keuze van materiaal gaat dit verloren en probeert ze te kijken hoe elk object een spelelement kan worden. De manier waarop een object anders kan worden ingezet en hoe het aanleiding kan geven tot spel, fantasie en verbeelding zijn dus zeer belangrijk. Ze hoopt dan ook met haar ‘Atelier schoenen’ jou te kunnen meenemen doorheen de verschillende jaren in het atelier, waar ze continu aan haar voeten zaten (en zelfs nog steeds zitten).

Over Robin Hendrix:

Na haar bachelor in Audiovisuele Kunsten (2018), besloot Robin de zoektocht naar haar medium voort te zetten in Beeldverhaal. Robin haar werk komt voor uit een fascinatie voor vormen, kleuren en texturen. Waar de figuratieve afbeelding soms ontbreekt, vertelt ze verder over een atmosfeer in de taal van abstractie en materialiteit.

Over Inke Slock:

Inke Slock (°Gent 2000) studeert aan  LUCA School Of Arts te Gent. Ze rondde dit jaar haar derde  Bachelor sculptuur af. Ze hecht een groot belang aan ambachtelijke technieken. Het verwezenlijken van een beeld vanuit je  eigen beeldentaal. Een uitdaging waarin ze zich laat meeslepen in haar praktijk. Het is dan ook voor haar van  persoonlijk belang om zoveel mogelijk zelf te maken en te experimenteren. Door deze drang  om te maken kreeg ze een voeling voor verschillende materialen en kleur.

Het thema waar Inke haar  werken nu in verwezenlijkt zijn haar ergernissen. Persoonlijke ergernissen en  bedenkingen in het dagelijkse leven. Dit gaat van de duif die voor je auto stokstijf blijft zitten tot de  tuinslang dat onmogelijk is, perfect terug op te rollen. Omdat dit onderwerp eerder negatief  onthaald wordt, probeert ze net vol humor haar beelden te realiseren. Kleurrijke speelse installaties  die het gevoel van de ergernis langzaam kwijtraken. Zo is dit ook voor haar heel persoonlijk. Door haar onderwerp te gaan bestuderen en na te maken, verandert haar ergernis in een vorm van  sympathie, als een op maat gemaakte therapie.

Over Visiona 100:

Visiona 100, Henri Vanhaerents’ debut collection is a contemporary manifesto that embodies his vision as a designer. His work is heavily inspired by the sixties - the Space Age Design- that embraced the fusion of popular culture, art and design and by doing so, unlocking infinite possibilities. Vanhaerents follows a future-already-in-the-making narrative as he continues to break with traditional frameworks and archetypes of specific designs. Visiona 100 is a dual construction that consists out of a six-meter long centipede shaped modular seating element and a tripod lamp. Their ambiguity aims to promote alternative ways of storytelling in connection to home furnishings. Vanhaerents' centipede breaks with the idea of the conventional lounge sofa by exploring its form flexibility. It easily adapts to any given environment, transforming it into a nearly anthropomorphic seating element that is consequently in dialogue with the lamp.

The centipede pillow is constructed with 23 pieces including, attached by zippers, a head and tail that reference the scale of a real-life centipede. The fabric choice echos the exoskeleton of insects, often referred to as their "shell". The detachable upper pillows, held up by 3D-printed buttons, come in a silver and purple lurex infused denim with varying degrees of reflectiveness. The lamp is two meters high and is comprised out of three legs, flirting with the boundaries between utility and sculpture. The viewer is able to walk and sit underneath it due to its monumental character, which also implies that the lamp can take on a more prominent place inside the living space. The two RGB lightbulbs are controlled by an app or a controller.

The centipede started out as an obsession which Vanhaerents soon became an evangelist of. It grew out to be a personal totem symbol - an attribute of choice - representing endless growth, good fortune, calmness, courage, protection and inner strength. All qualities typically associated with the comfort of a living space. The iconographical theme of the centipede is not frequently mentioned in Western canon but Vanhaerents incorporates it seamlessly into a metamorphosed living space.
