LUCA currently supports two types of Blocked Account procedures:
- The blocked account for the purpose of a study related stay at LUCA (first residence permit or permit renewal),
- The blocked account for the purpose of the residence permit extension related to the 'search year'.
The Blocked Account procedure for Study Stays can only be used by international students with non-EEA nationality who have been officially admitted to a degree programme at LUCA School of Arts and have received the official notification hereof, or by enrolled students who continue their studies and require to extend their residence permit. They are obliged by Belgian law to provide evidence of sufficient financial means to cover their study and living expenses for the duration of the studies. The blocked account procedure is one of three acceptable options that can be used to proof you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Belgium.
If you decide to go for this option, this implies that you choose to transfer the appropriate amount of money to the bank account of Luca School of Arts, that will in turn forward this amount on a monthly basis to your personal bank account in Belgium.
The Blocked Account procedure for the Search Year can only be used by international graduates from LUCA with non-EEA nationality. The purpose of the Search Year is to allow them to stay on the territory of a member state for a period of maximum 12 months, when they have completed their studies or research in that specific member state.
Calculation of 'means of stay amount' (2024-2025)
All students (First registration or re-enrolment/extension)
