You want to register for the Master Assessment in Music at LUCA Music for the Composition Programme as a master student. On the previous page you already found the date of the deadline for online registration for this test and the date when you are expected on campus. On this page you will find more info on what this test entails and how it will proceed.
The Master Assessment consists of a written motivation, an artistic test and an interview on campus.
PART 1 - ONLINE
Written motivation
Upon registration, you will receive a link to the online environment where you will find instructions for this. In a short text you clarify your motivation for the chosen programme.
The composition Master Assessment consists of an examination by a jury of composition teachers of the candidate's compositional material and an extensive discussion about it between the jury and the candidate.
Portfolio
You are requested to bring a portfolio of already written works (noted, but video/audio recordings are also possible, improvising at the piano or “work-in-progress” is also allowed). The portfolio consists of a maximum of 5 works or sketches/starters. The digital portfolio is delivered in one compressed file of maximum 100 MB. Alternatively, you can link to online platforms such as SoundCloud, YouTube and the like, on which content can be streamed (so without the need for download).

PART 2 - ON CAMPUS
After examining the compositions, the jury will discuss your prior knowledge, creative tracks, motivation and expectations with you. In addition, you take a written test that assesses music theoretical knowledge and background, and prior harmonic knowledge
Interview
In a short conversation with the jury, your motivation and personal ambitions will be assessed.
RESULTS
Within a week of the test, you will be notified of the results of the Master Assessment.

- Deadline online part 07.02.24: test on February 16th 2024
- Deadline online part 24.06.24: test on July 1st 2024
- Deadline online part 30.08.24: test on September 5th 2024
A detailed schedule of the day will be sent to you by email a few days before the Master Assessment (Part 2).
The Master Assessment consists of several parts. You will receive a link to the online admission test by email after your registration and go through the different parts. After that, you will receive an invitation for the additional interview with teachers and/or possibly a practical test on campus.
