BIODESIGN, where art and design meet science

Workshop

A module on biodesign for designers, artists, architects, scientists, sociologists, technologists,... who are interested in working at the intersection of biology and design.

Module primarily in Dutch (NL)

The Biodesign module is a series of interactive workshops that immerse you in the exciting world of bio-based materials and solutions. Throughout this hands-on experience, you'll explore innovative biomaterials and even create new materials using living organisms. By combining workshops with guided coaching in a design challenge, you'll gain practical experience with the latest bio-based technologies and develop your own sustainable solutions.

We will work with materials such as flax and hemp, and you'll have the opportunity to experiment with mycelium, as well as glimpse into the possibilities of synthetic biology. Beyond the workshops, you will collaborate with fellow students in a multidisciplinary design challenge to create your own bio-inspired solution. The module concludes with an exhibition showcasing your experimental designs.

The module is worth 6 ECTS.
